Engraved Disillusion: Embers of existence
28/09/11 || gk
This is a British band that manages to roll out the cliches with mind numbing momentum. Just about every note on this debut album is something you’ve heard before and its basically regular groove metal posing as death metal thanks to a vocalist who insists on growling over music that is not all that heavy. The band mixes some Gothenburg death metal, some Iron Maiden, some Lamb of God and leads that are very 1980s in nature and forget to add even the slightest bit of their own personality. The guitarists can definitely play and there are some nice lead guitar parts but they are yet to master the art of writing songs. A muffled and dull drum sound doesn’t help either. Embers of Existence is just boring and really dull. Come back when you have better songs.
3/10: No personality, no character, not worth a listen.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
